Types of Tenancy

What types of tenancies are there?

A secure tenancy is granted to existing tenants who have completed an introductory tenancy, or if they are transferring from another social housing provider.

You may also be given a secure tenancy if you are entitled to succeed or assign the tenancy. By law, secure tenants have the right to stay in a property provided they keep to the tenancy conditions. We cannot remove a secure tenant from a property unless a court grants an order of possession.

An introductory tenancy exists for the first twelve months of your tenancy, during which time we will make sure that you act responsibly and follow the conditions of your tenancy agreement.  If there are no problems during this twelve month period, an introductory tenant automatically becomes a secure tenant.
