Rents

The following are ways in which you can pay your rent. You can choose the method which is easiest for you to manage.

Direct debit

• weekly direct debit - on a Friday
• monthly direct debit - 1st or 15th of every month

Complete one of our direct debit forms and return it to us. It takes 14 working days from us receiving the form for your direct debit to be set up.

Standing order

Complete one of our standing order forms and return it to your bank. You chose the date that you want the payment to come out of your bank.

Credit card/debit card

During office opening hours payments can be made over the telephone.  To use this service telephone Free Phone - landline 0800 083 0333 or Cheap Rate Mobile  0300 200194.

Durham County Council payment line is open 24 hours a day. If you wish to use this service, please have your account details ready. This is an automated service.

PLEASE NOTE: There is a surcharge of 2% if you make a payment using your credit card.

Internet payments

Payments can be made via the Online Payments page or Durham County Council website following the information on the Pay for It icon.

Post Office and pay point outlets

You can pay your rent at any Post Office or paypoint outlet. There is no charge for this service. Payments take 2-4 working days to show on your rent account. If you do not have a payment card or have lost it, contact Dale & Valley Homes and we will order you a new card.

By post

All cheques, money orders and postal orders must be crossed and made payable to Durham County Council. Please write your tenancy reference number on the back and send to:

Automated bank transfers/BACS

If you wish to pay by automated bank transfer or online banking you will need the following bank details:
