About Right to Buy
Under the right to buy scheme, you can buy your home at a price lower than the full market value. This is because the amount of time that you spend as a tenant entitles you to a discount.
If you intend to exercise your right to buy it is recommended that you seek independent legal and financial advice about your individual circumstances, and to help with the legal process of buying your home.
The right to buy is aimed at secure tenants of local authorities and those assured tenants of registered social landlords who previously held secure tenancies with local authorities- for example those who became assured tenants after there council homes were transferred to housing associations.
