Penetrating damp occurs when a building is damaged and allows water in from outside. The usual signs are isolated wet patches with water stains/marks on outside walls or ceilings after rain.
This is often caused by faulty guttering or missing roof tiles. If you think your home is damp and it is not just condensation, you should contact the repairs call centre to arrange an appointment for an inspection visit.
