Servicing your gas boiler or fire

Introduction

If you have a faulty gas appliance, it can give off poisonous carbon monoxide fumes which you cannot see or smell, they they can kill you.

By law Dale and Valley Homes must do an annual gas safety check on the gas appliances in your home (excluding gas cookers).  You must allow us access to your home to do this work.

If you don't allow us access for a gas safety check, you will be breaking your tenancy agreement and you could risk having your property repossessed.

Each year we carry out an annual gas safety check on all of our properties to service the gas appliances and to make sure they're working safely and correctly.

As of November 2011, and in the interests of Health & Safety, we arrange our programme on a 11 month cycle to ensure none of our properties are without a valid gas safety certificate.

Gas Escapes

If you smell gas you should phone Gas Emergency services straight away.  The freephone number is 0800 111 999.  They will deal with any gas escape free of charge.

If you smell gas:

• turn off the gas supply
• out out any flames
• do not switch on or off any electrical goods or appliances (including lights and switches)
• open doors and windows to let air into the property.
