Our vision and objectives

Our customers have been vital in determining our future and are a driving force in developing and shaping our services.

Customers are at the centre of every action we undertake and we believe that this makes us a special organisation. This can be seen through our vision and objectives.

Our vision is:

"To provide homes and neighbourhoods that our customers want to live in and are proud to live in."

Our vision means that we want to provide decent homes in clean, green, safe and sustainable neighbourhoods that support an excellent quality of life for our customers.

Our four key strategic objectives represent a series of steps which will help us to measure our progress and achievement. Our objectives were developed in partnership with customers, staff, the board and Durham County Council.

These are:

• Delivering excellent services
• Delivering and maintaining decent homes
• Running our business well
• Sustaining local neighbourhoods  

What do we mean by our objectives?

• Delivering excellent services - we will deliver high quality services to our customers which directly improve their quality of life.  We would like our services to be judged to be excellent by our customers.

• Delivering and maintaining decent homes - we will achieve the Decent Homes Standard by 2013 and develop a plan in collaboration with Durham County Council and other agencies to maintain this standard.
  

• Running our business well - we will manage a modern and high achieving company that is staffed by professional and efficient people. We will manage all of our resources efficiently and effectively to enable the delivery of excellent services that demonstrate value for money and excellent levels of performance.

• Sustaining local neighbourhoods - we will be recognised a respected regenerator of neighbourhoods and an investor in local communities.  We will work in partnership to enhance the local environment and improve the sustainability of neighbourhoods and support balanced communities.  We will work in partnership with organisations and agencies to deliver improvements to services and opportunities for all communities, by supporting local people to access training and employment opportunities and promote tolerance and respect within our communities.
