BME Allocations
About BME Allocations
Dale and Valley Homes has a statutory duty under the Commission for Racial Equality code of practice for racial equality in housing to test our services against 9 themes around housing. Our procedures have been externally assessed and we meet the Commission for Racial Equality code of practice.
One of these themes involves sales and lettings. The code of practice states that it is: "unlawful to discriminate directly on racial grounds including access to information", and it is: "unlawful to segregate by racial group in the way housing is provided, unless this results from individual household mobility over time".
The ways that Dale & Valley Homes meets this requirement are through:
- six monthly ethnic monitoring reports based on housing applicants and applicants re-housed
- annual compulsory staff training on equality & diversity
- customer satisfaction survey results on new tenancies and diversity are reported to the Board
- our Durham Key Options lettings policy has been assessed for its equality.
- We have an equality and diversity handbook for staff
The Board Reports about our achievement of the Commission for Racial Equality code of practice for racial equality in housing a can be viewed to the left of this page.
