More than £1,200 is being shared by four community groups across Wear Valley thanks to the Better Homes, Better Lives Fund.

New kitchen equipment, a celebration meal and community events are among the latest batch of grants from the fund.

Crook Carnival Committee will receive £500 towards the costs of the carnival and The Hive in Crook was given £285 towards the cost of recent Easter activities.

Carol Porter of Dale & Valley Homes, which administers the fund, said: "These grants are typical of those the fund has made since it was created last year. "Better Homes, Better Lives is there to make small grants which make a big difference to the quality of life for people in Wear Valley."
