Project co-ordinator Amy Bell has been named as Dale & Valley Homes' employee of the year at the company's staff awards ceremony.
Amy, 25, from Auckland Park , was praised for her ability to successfully switch between extremely varied projects and deliver them all to a high standard.
In the last year Amy has been in charge of moving the entire company to new headquarters in South Church , re-developing the website and is now working on a project to build new homes in Crook.
Chief executive Peter Chaffer said: "Many of our staff received awards at the ceremony for their commitment to our customers, their dedication to their work and their care for their colleagues.
"Amy's contribution stood out because of the variety of the skills she has learned, the commitment and perseverance she shows to each project and her flexibility. She even organised the awards night."
Amy is a graduate in sociology but she is now studying for a master's degree in project management at Northumbria University .
She said: "I was surprised when my name was called out but delighted because people are nominated by their colleagues.
"When I first started working for Dale & Valley Homes two and a half years ago I was a customer service assistant. Since then my job has changed so much, I have been given more and more responsibility and a chance to develop my career.
"Each new project is a big challenge but I get great support from my colleagues, some of whom have become close friends."
